When to compress

Compress when a PDF is too large to email or upload. A 30 MB file won't fit most email limits; compression can bring it under 5 MB.

Step 1: Upload your PDF

Open the Compress PDF tool and drop in your file. The tool shows the original size and an estimated output size.

Step 2: Choose a level

Balanced keeps documents readable while cutting size significantly. Use High or Email quality for the smallest files.

Step 3: Compress and download

Click Compress. Processing happens locally. You'll see the actual output size before downloading.

Quality trade-off

Higher compression lowers image quality. Text stays crisp; photos may soften. Pick the level that keeps your document legible.
